Tanya Herbertson is a specialist in wills and estate planning, estate litigation and compensation law. She became a special counsel in 2019 after serving as a Snedden Hall & Gallop director for nine years. Tanya joined the firm in 2003 after eight years working for a major insurance company.
As leader of the firm’s wills and estate planning practice, Tanya has deep experience in preparing wills, testamentary trusts and enduring powers of attorney, arranging probate and letters of administration in the ACT and NSW and conducting the administration of deceased estates. Tanya also has particular expertise in estate litigation and regularly acts in court proceedings regarding contested wills and family provision claims.
Tanya regularly works in conjunction with her client’s accountants and financial planners to ensure her client’s overall estate planning needs are met in a cohesive manner.
Tanya has over a decade’s experience litigating personal injury claims arising from industrial accidents, motor vehicle accidents, product liability, and medical and professional negligence. Tanya’s knowledge of the defendant’s processes, acquired during her career in the insurance industry, has enabled her to achieve prompt and successful results for her clients.
Tanya is a warm and approachable advisor who prides herself on responding quickly to clients and keeping them well informed. Tanya is noted for her attention to detail and her ability to explain difficult concepts so that they are easily understandable.
Tanya graduated from the University of Canberra with a Bachelor of Management and Bachelor of Laws. She is a member of the ACT Law Society and the Australian Lawyers Alliance.
