Gillian Hunter is an Associate in our estate planning and migration practices. She joined our team in August 2014 after completing her Bachelor of Laws at Griffith University in Queensland. Gillian was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of the ACT in June 2015. She was made an Associate in June 2018.
As part of our wills and estate planning team, Gillian has developed a well-respected practice in estate matters. Her estate work involves drafting wills, testamentary trusts and powers of attorney as well as attending to applications to the ACT Supreme Court for probate grants and letters of administration. Gillian also assists with conducting the administration of deceased estates, once the necessary grant has been obtained.
Gillian also has a growing practice in estate litigation matters involving challenges to wills, family provision claims and informal will applications.
As part of the migration team, Gillian is a registered Migration Agent and a member of the Migration Institute of Australia (MIA). She assists our clients in relation to various permanent and temporary visas, such as business, skilled, family and student visas. She also has experience in migration matters brought before the Migration Review Tribunal and Administrative Appeals Tribunal. Registration Number (MARN): 1686317; MIA member no: 17128.
Gillian is a member of the Women Lawyers Association of the ACT. Prior to her employment at Snedden Hall & Gallop she completed an internship in Sydney, gaining exposure to personal injury law. She also interned at the Refugee & Immigration Legal Service in Brisbane, assisting migration agents and lawyers to provide free advice to refugees.
Gillian is an energetic and compassionate young lawyer with a strong commitment to social justice. Our clients benefit from her warmth and cultural sensitivity, informed by her time working as a carer for young Indigenous girls at the Ngurra Jirrama Foundation Boarding House.
Outside the office, Gillian enjoys swimming, cooking, art and travelling.
