In a landmark announcement for football in the Canberra region, the ACT Government last week pledged budget funding for the development of a new ‘home of football’ site in Throsby.

The home of football

The home of football will be a multimillion-dollar football precinct.  It will proudly feature futsal courts, a mixture of synthetic and grass field and associated amenities.

The precinct will host Canberra United matches, development programs, National Premier League (NPL) matches and grassroots football. It will also become the administrative headquarters for football in the ACT region.

A bright future for football

ACT has a bright future of football to look forward to, with Football Federation Australia announcing that the Caltex Socceroos, Westfield Matildas and Westfield Junior Matildas will all play international matches in Canberra over the next 18 months.

This will include a Socceroos Round 2 World Cup Qualification match for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The Matildas, currently contesting the Women’s FIFA World Cup in France, will play either an international friendly or Cup of Nations match.

We’re supporting football in the Canberra region

We’d like to congratulate our friends at Capital Football and its W-League team, Canberra United, on this exciting news.

Snedden Hall & Gallop is proud partner of Capital Football and we look forward to supporting the development of football in the ACT region.
